Hi, I'm Justin Smith.
I fix computers and occasionally the mess I make under a car.

IT support professional hunting down a Help Desk role — patient with people, faster than a reboot, and genuinely happy when a ticket closes clean.

01 About

Motivated and dependable IT support professional with hands-on experience troubleshooting hardware, software, and network issues for end users. I'm looking for a Help Desk role where I can put my technical and customer service skills to work and keep growing in IT — I like the moment a frustrated user turns into a relieved one, and I like getting a little better at this every week.

04 Off the clock

This is the part of the site that isn't trying to get me a job — it's just what I'm actually into.

🎮

Gaming

Right now I'm deep in Factorio — if you know, you know. "I'll just automate one more thing" has cost me more sleep than I'd like to admit. There's something about turning a chaotic mess of belts and inserters into a factory that runs itself that scratches the same itch as IT work: find the bottleneck, fix it, watch things run smoothly. When I'm not building factories I'm bouncing between whatever's on sale and whatever my friends are playing. My setup has also, at one point, involved a giant plush duck — see below, that's not a joke.

🔧

Cars & Mechanics

I like taking things apart to figure out why they stopped working, which probably explains both this hobby and my day job. Give me a weekend, some ramps, and a project car and I'm happy — skinned knuckles included. My dream car is a 1980 Datsun 280ZX; I'm a sucker for that era of Japanese sports car and I'll get one in the garage eventually. Until then I'm out at local shows and under whatever I'm currently driving.

🧊

3D Printing

My latest maker rabbit hole is 3D printing. I run a Snapmaker U1, and I'm still in the "print everything I can think of" phase — brackets, fun little desk toys, replacement parts for stuff around the house that would've otherwise just gotten thrown out. There's something satisfying about designing a fix on a screen and holding the physical part an hour later.
